To celebrate Summer and our 10 years of Twinning, we are holding a Garden Party at 8, Gillus Lane, Bempton on Sunday 24th June and there will be something for everyone. For those of you who like gardens, we are mad about gardening so we have:

Three ponds and two water features (including a waterfall);

Bog Garden; Shady Border; Wild Flower Meadow; Scree Bed; Two Decks; Veggie Plot; Hot Border including Cannas and Bananas; Grass Bed; Well established Shrub and Herbaceous Borders; Bee, Butterfly and Fragrant Patio and of course, plenty of lawn area.

We’ll also be selling plants from all over the garden.

Also if you enjoy a taste of France, we’ll be serving plated home-made lunches from midday until 2pm (or until we run out) including:

Piquenique Francais; Red Onion Tart; various Quiches and Garlic Roast Chicken salad. All these will be served with Green Salad, Tabbouleh and Crunchy French Bread. There will also be an all day BBQ.

Our Bar will serve tea, coffee, beer, wine and soft drinks as well as ice creams.

There’ll be a few stalls selling Cakes and Jams, White Elephant goods, and Games like Splat the Rat, Wet Sponge Stocks, Guess the Sweets, Cherry Pip spitting and a Natural Therapy stall with Reiki, Indian Head and Neck massage and Reflexology.

Entry is £2.00 per adult and £1.00 per child and includes a free glass of bubbly\soft drink. We’d like all our members to come and bring plenty of friends!! Doors open at midday.

We’re easy to find! Park around the Duck Pond or the Church and walk up Gillus Lane.

THE FINAL COMMENT

Our second major Summer event is the fabulous, unmissable BASTILLE DAY BARN DANCE AND BBQ. Those of us who experienced this brilliant night two years ago will remember the fantastic entertainment and fun that we had dancing in a real barn with a fantastic atmosphere provided by the band and John and Angela Foster. So we’re having a repeat performance at Field House Farm, Jewison Lane on the road between Sewerby and Bempton on Saturday night 14th July.  Admission is by TICKET ONLY. Bring your own stuff for the BBQ and your own drinks and glasses. We’ll provide the atmosphere, the band and plenty of Bread and Salads to go with your BBQ. Tickets are £5 only and are available from Barbara or Chris and can be picked up at our “Box Office” - the Sewing Centre in town. We need to know our numbers for the catering so BOOK NOW!! There will not be another Newsletter to remind you! You can also book online by Emailing chrismyers@tinyworld.co.uk Come and enjoy!!!!

Want to donate some of those unwanted items to help us raise funds??? We’re having a CAR BOOT at the Flamborough market on Sunday 29th July and we’re looking for saleable goods. So here’s your chance to have a bit of a clear out!! Could you drop off any items you’d like to donate to Chris’ house in 8, Gillus Lane and if you ring before you come, we’ll be in!! You could of course donate some stuff before the Garden Party and we could use it for the White Elephant Stall!! I look forward to receiving your unwanted stuff!

Nothing to do with us but on Saturday 20th, Sunday 21st July there is a FRENCH MARKET in York City Centre. It takes place on Parliament Square outside M&S and you’ll find lots of genuine French produce. Go and have a look.

So, don’t forget, we’d like a huge turnout at the Garden Party and the Barn Dance. Venez Nombreux!!

HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!!

P.S. A reminder from the last letter that Final Coach payments for Millau are due 25th June.
