BRIDLINGTON-MILLAU NEWS
Return to home page January 2002
At the AGM last month many of the
committee were voted to run again in their present positions so we have Bob
Owen – President; Chris Myers – Chairman; Daphne Ford – Vice Chair; Barbara
Hall – Secretary; Alan Horsman who has been the treasurer for the last 5 years
and has done a superb job of keeping all the accounts in order decided to stand
down and has been replaced by John Ford as Treasurer. Daphne will now take on
the role of Press Secretary and Barbara as Membership Secretary. A massive
thanks to Alan and to all Committee members who help organise so many social
events throughout the year. For a taster of what is to come this year have a
look at the Final Comment.
It’s membership time again and
especially with a visit from Millau planned, we will be offering all our
members a great deal of reduced prices on social functions, Newsletters, and
news from Millau. We’d like to invite you therefore to renew your membership
for the year 2002, by either posting your subscription and the tear off slip at
the end of the Final Comment or dropping in to the Sewing Centre. All details
in the FINAL COMMENT. Remember, our members are the first to know. Keep in
touch by renewing your membership today.
The visit from our friends from
Millau has now been organised and we have put together a week to remember for
all hosting families and our visitors from Millau too. We’re now looking for
HOSTING FAMILIES for the time between Saturday 6th April to Friday
12th April. They are travelling by air and we are expecting a big
group (40 members) from ECHO DES AVENS a Jazz band with a few members who have
been to Bridlington before, as well as about 20 other members of the Millau
Twinning Association. They arrive on the Saturday evening and will be leaving
on the following Friday evening. You don’t need to take the week off work as we
have arranged a busy week of activities for them during the day and two evening
events including a Barn Dance on Tuesday and a Leaving Party on the Thursday
night. We’re now looking for HOSTING FAMILIES, so please contact Chris if you
can offer your beds and hospitality during the week.
Merci de la part de notre comite

THE
FINAL COMMENT
A night out with a difference. What a better way to
celebrate mardi gras than with a selection of savoury or sweet (or both !)
crepes. The evening will start with 10 pin bowling at 6.00pm at the Forum,
followed by crepes of your choice at 7.00pm onwards upstairs at Corrigans next
door. The bowling costs depend on how many games you want and the pancakes will
start at just £1.50, yes ONE 50 only. Order as a group and the more you order,
the cheaper it gets !!!!!! So join us and fill up on Tuesday 12th
FEBRUARY. To get an idea of numbers for the crepes, please ring Barbara to
confirm your place. All welcome, treat the kids!!!
The committee have also put together a calendar for 2002 which should
be going out to all paid up members with the next newsletter. Dates for your
